Home of the RIZE Open Computer Project

RIZE is an open hardware, open source computer for teaching computer fundamentals.  The project's goal is to create a very low cost platform with a classic architecture.  The minimal-abstraction approach enables the user to understand the direct relationship between programming and hardware.

Welcome to the all new Revely Microsystems Web site

In announcing the RIZE Open Computer project, I've decided to take Revely in a new direction.  RIZE will take most of the elements of our proprietary RMS102 design, then turn it loose as an open-hardware project with your input and ideas.

The primary design goal is to build a fully functional computer module with less than $30 in parts.  Even including assembly costs, RIZE will be amazing value for hobbyists, schools, labs...

RIZE Project Objectives

  • Promote education of fundamental computer concepts

  • Develop a simple, open-hardware computer with <$30 cost of materials

  • Encourage the development of software for the RIZE platform

The success of this project depends on your support.  Your help is needed with hardware specifications as well as with software development.  What software?  That's entirely up to you - RIZE is a clean slate for video games, operating systems, educational applications, interpreters (BASIC, Forth..).  It would be awesome to have a range of programs that assist with teaching computer fundamentals.

Legacy Design - RMS102

RMS102 is based on a 200MHz ARM microprocessor and will be the basis for the RIZE Open Computer project.  RMS102 will be the development platform for the RIZE project until new 100% open hardware has been manufactured.  RMS102 will be available for order very soon from this site at a massively discounted price - below our cost!  Until then access our current archive of RMS102 information here.

Legacy Design - RMS100

Sharp Microelectronics recently announced that they are discontinuing their ARM Bluestreak product line.  This marks the end of the line for our popular RMS100 board.  When it was introduced, the RMS100 set a new price/performance point and since then hundreds of boards have shipped to customers in dozens of countries.  You can access our archive of RMS100 information here.
